Nancy Freeman

Nancy Freeman is the director of the Women and Leadership Archives (WLA) at Loyola University Chicago. Prior to coming to the WLA in 2013, Nancy worked for thirteen years as Archivist/Records Manager at the National Wildlife Research Center in Fort Collins, Colorado.

In 1999, Nancy entered the archival field. Her career path involves directing small archival shops and supervising non-professional staff and students. She is also active with oral history: coordinating professional and community projects and conducting interviews.

From 2011 to 2015, Nancy served on SAA’s Committee on Ethical and Professional Conduct. She coordinated on-line publication of ethics case studies during her time as co-chair from 2013-2015. In addition, she co-authored two case studies.

Nancy received her Bachelor’s degree in social work at Briar Cliff University. She graduated with a Master’s degree in history and a women’s studies certificate from Colorado State University. Nancy became a Certified Archivist in 2002.
