CHICAGO — Congratulations to the 34 new Digital Archives Specialists (DAS)! These archivists, who represent a variety of repositories around the country, earned a DAS Certificate from the Society of American Archivists (SAA) after completing required coursework within twenty-four months and passing a comprehensive examination in January 2023.

Shogan, the White House’s nominee to fill the Archivist of the United States position vacated by David Ferriero last year, will appear before the US Senate’s Committee on Homeland Security and Government Affairs (HSGAC) on February 28 at 10:00 a.m. ET. February 16—The Society of American Archivists (SAA) Foundation has received a $98,000 grant from the Mellon Foundation to develop a yearlong pilot program that centers Indigenous needs and perspectives in the archives profession.

February 1, 2023—The Society of American Archivists (SAA) promotes the protection of government records. Further, SAA supports archivists and records managers at all levels of government, including staff at the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) and the White House Office of Records Management, in their efforts to manage records responsibly and transparently.
