March 17, 2023—Congressperson John Larson (D-CT) in the House of Representatives seeks support for President Biden’s request for adequate funding for the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) and the National Historical Publications and Records Commission (NHPRC) in FY24. Larson has circulated a “Dear Colleague” letter to fellow representatives urging them to show their support.

SAA Seeks Part-Time Regional Coordinator for Indigenizing Archival Training Project

March 2023—The Indigenizing Archival Training (IAT) project, a Mellon Foundation-funded project administered by the Society of American Archivists’ Native American Archives Section, seeks a Regional Coordinator to assist with travel logistics for participants, book spaces, plan in-person activities, and set up/take down event spaces. The program is designed to disseminate archival principles and best practices driven by Indigenous values and traditional stewardship practices of communities.
