Candidate Statement: I am so grateful for the opportunity to take my RMS steering committee participation to the next level as a nominee for Vice Chair/Chair-Elect. Part of what I love most about records management is education: learning, digesting information, and teaching others about the importance of proper records management. As the Vice Chair/Chair-Elect for the Records Management Section, I will help our members connect to important resources by way of exciting coffee chats and pertinent annual meeting topics. The Records Management Section has been a fantastic source of information for me over the last year, and I hope to continue that trend!

Steering Committee Candidates

The records Management Section will be electing for 2 open Steering Committee Positions

They are:

- (2) 3-year terms

3-year term Candidate:

Autumn Oakey

Canditate Statement:

My name is Autumn Oakey (she, her). I currently work at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater-Rock County campus as a full-time library assistant. I am also a MLIS student at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. In this position, I have started to take on some basic records management responsibilities including providing guidance to varying departments, collecting corresponding documentation, scheduling records transfers, developing policies, and working with other local institutions to develop retention schedules. I would like to be apart of the RMS steering committee because records management is a pivotal part of business operations that often gets overlooked by many people. When records management is overlooked it can negatively affect transitioning positions, organizational awareness, workflow management, access to records, documentation of organizational history, and organizational accountability. I think that the group provides valuable resources for other archivists, records managers, and records creators to advance their knowledge in this area while also creating space for a variety of records managers to utilize their shared and varied experiences. I believe that working with groups like these will help institutions establish methods of adequate and efficient access to organizational records by creating a collective understanding around the issues and needs within the field of records management.
