Having served in multiple roles on several Society of American Archivists sections, I am interested in the Communications Manager position with the Web Archiving Section steering committee because coordinating communications in a timely manner is the key to having successful events and section health. My knowledge of figuring out the right time frames and which modes of communication work best to disseminate information has been developed through my years of posting listserv calls, social media posts, and meeting reminders with various groups. With my institution being new to web archiving, I feel joining this section's leadership would allow me to connect with other web archivists and learn more about the exciting projects that exist in this realm. Brenna Edwards is currently Manager for Digital Archives at the Harry Ransom Center at The University of Texas at Austin. She is also involved with the Software Preservation Network Coordinating Committee as Administrative Coordinator. Previously, she was Project Digital Archivist at the Stuart A. Rose Manuscript, Archives, and Rare Book Library at Emory University. She has a BS from Tennessee Tech University and an MSLS from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Education: bachelor's in psychology from Brigham Young University, bachelor's in library science from the University of Nebraska-Omaha, currently working on an MLIS graduate degree at San Jose State University. I plan on graduating in May 2026. Employment experience or career-related activities: I worked as a clerk at the Lehi Library for 3 years. I then interned at the Lehi Historical Society and Archives for a semester and now work as a processing archivist intern at the Church History Library for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. My internship includes web archiving, and I have done classwork using Archive-It. I hope to find a full-time job after graduating, working as a digital archivist and helping an organization with its web archiving. Working with this committee would be an amazing opportunity to learn more from experienced SAA members and participate in discussions about current and future trends in web archiving. Thank you for your consideration.
