Marcella (Wiget) Huggard

Marcella (Wiget) Huggard joined the University of Kansas Libraries as archives and manuscripts coordinator in 2015.  She is in charge of manuscripts processing at the Kenneth Spencer Research Library.  She was an archivist with the Kansas Historical Society (KSHS) from 2008-2015.  Her most recent duties as supervisor of the public records program included training, helping executive-branch state agencies and counties revise and update their retention schedules, providing other records management services to the state, and arranging and describing government records of enduring value  transferred from state agencies to the State Archives.  Prior to that role at KSHS she served as project archivist on two large National Historic Publications Records Commission (NHPRC) grant projects surveying and describing all textual holdings at the State Archives and arranging and describing the Menninger Foundation Archives.

Marcella has also held roles as assistant archivist with the Bessemer Historical Society in Pueblo, Colorado and Curator of Collections for the Reno County Historical Society in Hutchinson, Kansas.  Marcella received her Bachelors in History from Knox College and her Masters in History from Colorado State University – Fort Collins.
