Description: 

Get an introduction to the history and practice of preservation in archives! Learn about fundamental principles of preservation and pragmatic methods of applying them. The essential properties of composite materials held in archival collections—paper, ink and other mediums, photographic materials, sound recordings, audio/video, and motion picture film—will be provided along with directions on how to handle and care for each one.

 

The importance of environmental control and disaster preparedness will also be covered. You’ll gain an understanding of how preventive preservation techniques can be applied efficiently and effectively to archival materials to protect them and lengthen their usable life.
