March 2, 2020—VOTE NOW! The 2020 SAA election ballot is now live. Fifteen candidates are running for the offices of Vice President/President-Elect, Council, and Nominating Committee. Click on the candidates’ names on the slate to read their bios and responses to questions posed by this year’s Nominating Committee.

Call for Member Comments: SAA Statement on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

February 26, 2020—The SAA Council seeks member comment on proposed revisions to the SAA Statement on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. This statement establishes SAA's values, centering on diversity, equity, and our commitment to building a culture of inclusion.  

The Council began review of the statement this winter, per the established three-year review cycle; the document was last reviewed in 2016. The Council proposes revisions, as noted in the documents below, to update and improve the statement, most notably by adding “equity” more prominently.

January 31, 2020—The 2020 presidential caucuses and primaries are upon us, and SAA’s Committee on Public Policy has prepared a list of questions—based on SAA’s Public Policy Agenda—that we’ve posed to all the U.S. presidential candidates. No responses to share yet, but we’re hoping that the campaigns will consider archives and records issues and also learn more about our important issues from our questions.
