White House Budget Again Zeroes Out Key Humanities Agencies

The Presidential Budget Request for FY 2019 again calls for elimination of the National Historical Publications and Records Commission, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the Institute of Museum and Library Services. Although the appropriations process for FY 2018 has not yet been completed, Congress has rejected the President’s previous proposals.

SAA Statement on Sexual Assault and Harassment

February 8, 2018—The SAA Council today adopted a Statement on Sexual Assault and Harassment in response to recent articles about harassment of public librarians and sexual assault by former Archivist of the United States Allen Weinstein. Read the statement here.

Deadline Now February 17 for Applying for Federal Disaster Assistance in Puerto Rico

February 5, 2018—The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) wants to remind arts and cultural organizations that recovery help may be available from a variety of sources. To take advantage of the full range of assistance that may be available, it’s important that these organizations submit a Request for Public Assistance (RPA) to the Governor’s Authorized Representative (GAR) before the new deadline of February 17.
