SNAP Steering Committee Meeting Minutes - 03/13/2017

SNAP Steering Committee 2016-2017

Meeting #5: March 13, 2016

Location: Skype

Time: 7 pm EST/6 pm CST/4 pm PST

Attending: Elena Colon-Marrero, Lauren Gaylord, Kelly Kietur, Brenna Edwards, Ève Bourbeau-Allard, Adriana Flores, Amanda Mellinger

  1. We’re now officially a section!!!!

    1. Yay!! Our social media picture has been updated to reflect the change.

  2. Updating blog header

    1. The last thing that needs updating is the blog header. Kelly found the original file so she is going to take a shot at updating the blog.

  3. Student chapter guide update (Adrienne & Emily)

    1. Adrienne & Emily couldn’t make the meeting but they sent Kelly an update. They’ve been working on the guide and have broken the manual down to sections; they send out one section for feedback every two weeks. They’re currently getting input on the Leadership and Chapter Governance sections. They’ve been asking for input from the Student Chapters listserv and they’re getting more responses than when they’d sought feedback using Twitter. They’re hoping they’ll be done by May or June. See Kelly’s “Student Chapter Manual update” email for more information.

  4. SAA 17 meeting - Wednesday, July 26, 2:30-3:45 PM

    1. Our section meeting is on Wednesday, July 1th, the day before the official conference sessions start. Kelly hopes to see everyone there but understands it won’t be a possibility for everyone (financially, time off, etc).

    2. Question to consider: What presentations should we plan for the meeting? Jamie Martin, the archivist at IBM, has expressed interest in talking to the section about business archives. Should we try to find another speaker/presenter to speak at the meeting? Should we send out a request via email and seek speaker proposals or invite specific people? Please send out your opinions and ideas on the email thread “Discussion about SAA Business Meeting.”

  5. Additional updates

    1. The next Twitter chat is going to be on March 24th and the topic is “Neutral” Archivist.
