NARA seeks an Archivist, GS-1420-09/11. Duties: As an Archivist with the Richard Nixon Library, you will process presidential materials, federal records, and collections of personal papers, both classified and unclassified. You will perform archival arrangement, description and preservation on donated historical materials, federal records, or audiovisual materials. In consultation with appropriate NARA staff, you will identify, investigate, test and evaluate processes for converting holdings and descriptive information and finding aids into a variety of electronic formats to improve access by staff and researchers. You will provide reference service in response to requests for information regarding the Library's textual and non-textual holdings and secondary source information. You may work on a 'tapes team' listening to Presidential recordings and preparing a log of conversations, ensuring the logs are accurate and complete, and meet agency standards. You will determine and apply appropriate declassification guidelines to presidential papers, donated historical materials, and Federal records. You will also determine documents ineligible for declassification under guidelines and prepare them for agency declassification review, identifying the agency or agencies responsible for their review. You will perform archival outreach to other archival institutions and professionals on the preservation and management of historical materials. You will also collaborate with museum staff in planning and preparing exhibits involving archival material from the Library's holdings; work with local colleges, universities, and school systems in providing training and instruction to classes; and use collections expertise to assist the library's education staff in developing curricula material or educational activities.

This position will be filled at either the GS-9 or GS-11 level (between $48,108 to $75,669 per year).
