AIA-AAF Collections Task Force Consultant

Task Force Consultant will analyze and evaluate collections records and explore potential future stewards in order to provide Task Force members with information needed to make an informed decision. Part-time, contract, begin immediately, conclude by December 1, 2008. Salary negotiable.

  • Research may include:
    • Review of comparable collections
    • Collections records, deeds of gift to identify donor conditions and/or restrictions
    • Potential partners for future stewardship
    • Current best practice and standards related to deaccessioning, long-term loans, disposal, dispersal, and public access.
  • Evaluate challenges to moving the collection
    • Develop options for increasing public and scholarly reach of the collections
    • Develop recommended processes for implementing the recommended option(s) including a process for future donations offered to the AIA and AAF
  • College degree
  • 3-5 years project leadership, strategic collections planning, preference for experience as collections manager, registrar, provenance researcher, or archivist
  • Familiarity with registrarial methods, archival arrangements, collection documents, such as deeds, and provenance research methods.
  • Ability to handle sensitive issues in a confidential and professional manner
  • Exceptional organizational, communications, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience working with boards and committees of volunteer leaders
